Exterior Tip (Painting)                                       

The three most important steps in painting are preparation, preparation and preparation.

Prepare the surface by sanding, scraping or stripping. If it's too damaged, repair or

replace it. If you have good reason to believe the old paint might contain lead - as in,

paint is white and some coats were applied more than forty years ago - avoid

scraping and other methods which create dust.

Load properly following manual suggestions. Use only dishwasher detergent in

recommended amounts. Do not put any other cleaning compound inside dishwasher

as it may over produce suds and interfere with dish washing action. Store detergent in

a dry, cool place, and do not keep extra packages on hand for a long time as it takes

up moisture from the air and then loses cleaning ability.
